Lying Overhead Arm Extension
How to do it
Starting position
- Lie on the floor with your knees bent.
- Extend one arm overhead, then bend your elbow to bring your hand behind your head.
- Hold that wrist with your other hand.
Movement
- Extend your arm upward while applying appropriate resistance with your opposite hand.
- At full extension, squeeze your triceps briefly.
- While maintaining resistance, slowly bend your arm behind your head.
- Complete the target reps and switch arms.
Breathing
Exhale as you extend, inhale as you bend.
Cautions
- Apply only as much resistance as you can push through all the way. Getting stuck halfway puts stress on your joints.
- Keep your elbows pinned in place so they do not flare out to the sides.
